# Build with AI

> Give your AI agent access to Sila with the CLI, skills, and MCP server.

Sila works with coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and VS Code. Set up once, and your agent can scrape pages, run crawls, and write code against the API.

## Set up with one command

```bash theme={null}
npx -y @sila-sh/cli@latest init --all --browser
```

This command:

1. Opens your browser so you can authorize the CLI. It saves an API key on your machine.
2. Installs the Sila skills for your agents.
3. Prints the MCP server setup lines.

You need a Sila account. Sign up free at [sila.sh](https://sila.sh) for 500 credits a month. There is no anonymous access for agents.

To have your agent run the setup, paste this prompt:

```text theme={null}
Run npx -y @sila-sh/cli@latest init --all --browser. Use my existing Sila login or help me log in. Read the installed skills before running scrapes.
```

## Log in

```bash theme={null}
npx -y @sila-sh/cli@latest login --browser
```

Check the terminal name on the authorize page, then click **Authorize**. To skip the browser, create a key on the **API keys** page and run `sila login --api-key sila_your_key`. See [CLI](https://docs.sila.sh/cli.md) for every command.

## Install the skills

Sila publishes two skills:

| Skill | Use it to |
| - | - |
| `sila` | Scrape pages and run crawls with the `sila` CLI. |
| `sila-build` | Add Sila to your application code with the REST API, webhooks, and incremental crawls. |

Install them with the skills installer:

```bash theme={null}
npx -y skills@latest add https://sila.sh
```

Add `-g` to install globally and `--all` to install for every supported agent.

An agent can also read the onboarding skill directly. It covers install, login, and choosing between live tools, app code, and plain REST:

```bash theme={null}
curl -s https://sila.sh/agent-onboarding/SKILL.md
```

## Connect the MCP server

The hosted MCP server lets your agent call Sila as tools. Add `https://api.sila.sh/mcp` to your client and sign in with OAuth or an API key. See [MCP server](https://docs.sila.sh/mcp-server.md) for each client.

## Read Sila as markdown

Sila publishes pages that agents read well:

* `https://sila.sh/llms.txt` lists the pages, docs, and agent resources.
* Add `.md` to a Sila page URL to get it as markdown, for example `https://sila.sh/pricing.md`. The home page is `https://sila.sh/index.md`.
* Or send `Accept: text/markdown` to the normal page URL.

```bash theme={null}
curl -s https://sila.sh/pricing.md
curl -s -H "Accept: text/markdown" https://sila.sh/pricing
```

These docs also work with `llms.txt` tools. Append `.md` to any docs page URL to get its markdown.
